We were looking for a place to eat and passed this new hangout place. This newly opened place looks catchy from the outside so we decided to stop by. It is located in Jalan Letnan Sutopo, not far from Pasar Modern BSD. It only opens from 17.00 as it shared its place with a car workshop. So, when the car workshop closes at night, this place opens.

Basically, they sell sate taichan, bakmi, and other nibbles.

In their banner, they said open from 17.00, and we arrived there exactly at 17.00. The waiters are already waiting there and welcomed us. Though, when we wanted to order, they said their boss wasn't there yet and they couldn't cook as their boss is the one who deliver the ingredients. But they promised us it won't be long until their boss come. So we ordered the only thing that was available, hot tea.

5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes passed by, this boss didn't show up until 17.30. We were about to leave, but she showed up anyway, without apologizing for waiting for her for half an hour.

Tip: the boss' car is white nissan juke, if this car already parked beside the restaurant, there you can come without waiting for half an hour like what happened to us.

Ambience

The decoration is really nice and looks very beautiful at night, especially from outside. This place stands out.

Sharing its place with a workshop, you can still smell the smell of oil and stuffs which is very unappetizing. And because it is located besides the one of the busy main road of BSD, it is so noisy and a little bit warm.

Food

They got this Ramadan package, where with IDR22,000 you could get 10 pieces sate taichan with rice, tea and takjil. So we ordered this package.

The kolak is very small, but enough for one. The taste is surprisingly nice, not to sweet and the sweet potato tastes good too. But this menu is only available during the month of Ramadan.

Sate Taichan (10), IDR 20,000

Their sate taichan is so-so, it is comparable with the price. It only got little slices of meat per stick. Though with that price, it is tolerable. The taste is nothing special too, we have tried better sate taichan than this one. The meat is flavorless and the sambal is not really spicy. They should improve on the taste of their sate taichan.

Overall

I bet this is that kind of place which emphasize their decoration and ambience over their quality of food. There are not many choices you can choose from the menu. If they are not improving soon, I can see this place is not gonna last for long time, as when we passed this place on a Saturday night, there are only two tables there which are occupied. But I might will be back again to try their mi as it is one of the pocket friendly options in BSD.
